I’m delighted to announce that I am one of five composers who has been chosen to take part in Adopt a Composer 2013-14. I have been paired with The Quangle Wangle Choir (see their website and Facebook page), and will be working in collaboration with them to produce a new work, which will be premiered in spring/summer 2014.

The launch day was held on Saturday 14th, where I got to meet Juliet and Hilary from the Quangle Wangle Choir, and chat to my (our) mentor Colin Riley. I’ll be heading to Weymouth to meet the whole ensemble in October, and to get started on writing the piece! I’ll be blogging about the collaboration, the composition and the whole experience both on here and on the Adopt a Composer Blog. I’m really excited by the prospect of working with the Quangle Wangles, and am looking forward to our first proper meeting..!

Adopt a Composer is run by Making Music in partnership with Sound and Music, in association with BBC Radio 3, and funded by PRS for Music Foundation.

Congratulations!
Don’t forget the bells.
(I recall a master piece of all times, “Sea of Tranquility” / Woolly Wolstenholme, which includes bells (eletronic?), maybe it rings a bell:-)
I like your music, because it’s melodic and it just makes sense, rare traits in erudite music today.
I found you looking for supporting agencies for composers. You are very fortunate to have that on the UK. No luck here (Portugal)
Cheers.

Lovely to meet you at our Quangles workshop. We really appreciated your attempt to meet as many of us as you could and hope our joy of singing together inspires your composition.
X Mary
