About Tanquinto
Tanquinto is a tango-like piece with five beats in the bar. The initial section has a strong dance like feel, with a flowing melody above a tango-esque bass line. In the middle section of the piece the tango rhythms are more subdued, replaced with more flowing lines and a brief waltzing build up before the tango returns.
Tanquinto was written in 2024 and is approximately 2 and a half minutes in length. It was premiered as part of the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music in 2025.
