Sparks is a short, snappy brass fanfare depicting sparks of light flooding the sky. It begins with fast paced shimmering trumpet lines, before the main melody is heard. Seven beats in a bar give it an unpredictable feel, with a constant quick pace and sharing of the melody between various instruments. The middle section of the piece features a calmer texture (though the underlying pace stays the same), before a sparkling conclusion.
